modular design. It feels alive. It can be moved through, fiddled with, affected, and responded to, whether physical, digital, or somewhere in between. below. The brief was to develop a campaign challenging engineered obsolescence and the throwaway culture surrounding modern products, many of which are designed with limited lifespans to encourage constant replacement over repair. Through a clear, engaging visual approach, the campaign needed to communicate the environmental and social cost of that culture, while encouraging people to rethink their relationship with consumption, durability, and waste.
The goal was to create something interactive that gets people thinking more consciously about how long the things they own could actually last. I designed a series of simple instruction cards built around a tally system, filled in each time an item is checked, serviced, or repaired.
That visual record makes it easy to see just how long a product can last with proper care. Each card is colour-coded for a specific household appliance, starting with three items but built to expand further down the line.
